Basic Rules of Pife and Cacheta:
<ul>
 <li>Players: 4</li>
 <li>Number of Cards: 108</li>
 <li>Distribution: Each participant receives 9 cards; the remaining cards form the draw pile.</li>
 <li>Objective: To 'hit,' or lay down all cards from your hand, using at least three cards in each play, forming either sequences of the same suit or sets of different suits.</li>
 <li>Ditching/Recycling: Players may pick up the last discarded card during their turn by touching it.</li>
</ul>

Differences in Gameplay:
<ul>
 <li>Pife Variations: There are no wild cards; players do not need to declare they are “one card away” before hitting.</li>
 <li>Cacheta Variations: The wild card is determined by the next card of the same suit as the face-up card beneath the draw pile; players must declare “one card away” prior to hitting; if they make this declaration, they can pick up a discarded card even if it’s not their turn.</li>
